January 2012: We have two events coming up: on February 25th we shall be singing at St Bartholomews Church, Haslemere. The concert will include Durufle Requiem, plus the first performance of Miserere Mei by Clive Osgood, and other music for Lent.
Then on April 21st - 22nd we are singing the services at Chichester Cathedral.
August 2011: Next month we are singing a concert in the Hurstpierpoint Festival at Sayers Common. In the summer of 2012 we are singing a weekend of services at Winchester Cathedral.
Jan 2011: In July 2011 we have been engaged to sing services at Westminster Abbey (but not for the royal wedding!) Music to be decided...
December 2010: Our concert with the Mid Sussex Sinfonia at All Saints Church, Lindfield, was very well received. It was fantastic for us to have the opportunity to sing Bach's Magnificat.
February 2010: On Sunday 14th February 2010 15 of the Lewes Singers sang the services once more at Salisbury Cathedral. There were lots of lovely comments, especially about our Byrd 4-part mass.
February 10: On Saturday 6th February we gave a concert in Lewes to help raise funds for the St John Sub Castro organ which is in urgent need of repairs and restoration. We have a close relationship with St John's and are delighted to be able to give something back by way of a fund-raising concert. The concert raised over £700.
October 07: Concert raises over £1,000
Our 'Voices for Hospices' concert in Lewes on October 6th raised over £1,000 for the St Peter & St James Hospice at Chailey!
September 07: Forthcoming cathedral visits
The Lewes Singers have been invited by both Canterbury Cathedral and York Minster to sing services as a visiting choir. We are planning to visit York in 2009. Plans for Canterbury have yet to be finalised.
